Use different types of sentences (simple, compound, and complex) to make their writing more interesting.
Example:
The dog ran, they can add variety like VS The dog ran quickly, but he was still too slow to catch the ball.
Word Choice
Encourage students to use vivid, descriptive words instead of basic ones.
Example: Instead of saying nice, they can say kind, generous, or friendly.
Paragraph Structure
Topic Sentence: Each paragraph should start with a clear topic sentence that states the main idea.
Supporting Details: Provide facts, examples, or descriptions to explain the topic.
Concluding Sentence: Wrap up the paragraph with a final thought.
Transitions
Use transition words (first, next, however, in conclusion, etc.) to connect their ideas smoothly.
